Thai Troops Still At Preah Vihear Khmer
It is bad news for Cambodians when they heard that Thai soldiers/troops are in or at the Preah Vihear temple. Some things are unclear with the dispute border at Preah Vihear temple, and the both sides, Cambodia and Thailand, claimed sovereignty. The listing of Preah Vihear temple has made the world know that the temple belongs to Cambodia.
Yesterday, I got two sms from my friends who relatives live in Preah Vihear province and has connection with Khmer soldiers at Preah Vihear temple. The first sms at 6:05pm read Bad news Thai black soldiers was fighting back and forced Khmer soldiers out from the Preah Vihear this noon. Our temple now is under their coverage, damn bloody Thai. I forwarded this sms to other friends of mine. Some of my friends who got my sms did not believe and questioned me that is that true?
At around 6:45pm, I got another sms from my friend reading that I just call to the soldier at the Thai border. He said there is not fighting yet, but situation is not well. Recently, authority has put additional soldiers to defend our temple. I also forwarded this sms to other friends. They all seem to believe this sms/new. They wish to see peace and nothing bad happen at the Preah Vihear temple.
This afternoon, I got a yahoo chat messenger from another friend with the url address of a website saying that Thai troops crossed into their country’s territory Wednesday in the second day of alleged incursions amid tensions over disputed border land near a historic temple. You can read the full text by click here.
Now, it is not the listing of Preah Vihear temple into the world heritage, but the border issue. You can see I predicted this will be happened as I wrote in my blog last week. Now, we can wait and see Cambodia will solve this border issue quickly. It can be done through government and government. The Foreign Ministers of Cambodia and Thailand shall meet as soon as possible and state a clear message to not doing something at the dispute borders. Let the government solve it. The military and citizens of both countries should be calm, quiet, silent.

i also recieved this message but i didn’t send it to any friends because I can’t find the same news on google. It’s a sensitive information so I need to have adequate source and be careful before sending it out. I don’t want to be manipulated.

I also received this kind of message. Please reply to person who send this message to get the source is it believable or not. It can make the situation more worst.I think Cambodia is on the advantage because we have have the map recognised by the international court. If Thailand fire ti us first, of course, then we can appeal to the UN. We are in the good position now to keep calm.

Yes, you are right. the sms sometime make problem worse. That is why my friend questioned me. I believe that the government of cambodia take this issues solved. The Unesco and the UN and ASEAN would play important roles, if Cambodia and Thailand can not reach an agreement. Cambodia has advantages on two things, law and diplomacy.

Now what’s going on? The Khmers say Thai troops crossed into their country’s territory, and the Thais say their troops are deploying on what was clearly Thai territory. I think both are on the overlapping piece of land. I hope the tension will die down soon. What they should focus now is to work on the negotiation for the result of a clear demarcation, no to fight each other. Just want to wish peace for both sides.

I think we need to resolve it peacefully with Thailand. Using weopons is not a smart way as it will destroy our temples which is the soul of not only our nations, but also the worl heritage internationally recognised.
In settling the issue, we have enough ground both legal/ diplomacy and forces, but the form is the best choice as war is not good even though it is for the nation.
Just remember that some neighboring countries do not want us to leave peacefully. Thailand is an example. It has never gaven up its ambition over Cambodian territory. When we are weak, they often violate our sovereignty, so we need all Cambidian to be in united to fight for our motherland.

Sokunthea, you are right. peaceful way is good option. we should not act like the thai people are doing today. we are mature. i hope that the negotiation to be held on monday 21 next week would bring good results. thanks
