I traveled to Siem Reap in April 2008 and visited some temples. While Angkor temples and others nearby are welcoming hundreds of tourists everyday, other temples in Siem Reap province have a few tourists. As example, Phnom Krom temple just about two kilometers from provincial town has a very few tourists there.

Some parts of the temples were destroyed and rebuilt. However, this unpopular tourist place has gained a few tourists everyday. The temple is located on a mountain which people could view the provincial town and rice fields. Once I visited there, people said that a Korean firm wished to develop something nearby the mountain with a sky rocket. But the project was failed due to local residence’s disagreement. Because such investment may make them lose their land and have impact on the conservation of the temple.

At rainy season, landscape there is very beautiful which attract tourists, probably for domestic tourists. I just hope that any time, there will be positive changes there due to investment made by government or private firms.

If you visit Siem Reap, you should just try to take about two hours to visit there to see what make this site attract a few tourists.
