Cambodia’s open sky policy has given golden opportunity to develop its tourism. At the time of the adoption of this policy, Cambodia had less than one million tourists, but now in this year 2008 Cambodia has more than two million tourists, mainly in Siem Reap Angkor tourist destination. Due to favorable conditions both inside and outside country, Cambodia is expected to attract more tourists and will reach 5 million people in the year 2015.
The tourism development has contributed about 15% of Cambodia’s GDP, the second biggest share after the garment and textile industry. It has created jobs and income for workers and government budget. At the same time, it creates indirect jobs for small and medium business, particularly for ordinary people who sell souvenir gifts and other related commodities.

Temples in Siem Reap, Kampong Thom, and Preah Vihear are the main tourist attraction and beach in Kep, Kampot, Sihanouk Ville and Koh Kong are also attractive and natural resorts in Mondulkiri, Ratanakiri, Stung Treng and Kratie are attractive. And the other various parts of the country are also tourism destination. Meaning in short, almost everywhere of the country, Cambodia could get high revenue from tourism development.

Along with tourism development, agriculture is also potential and this agriculture shall be developed to serve tourism markets so that it will ensure that Cambodia could get maximum benefits from its comparative advantages.
