About 60 Houses Burned This Morning?
This morning (11 April 2008) around 5:45am, around 60 houses were temporarily reported burned in front of Lok Sang Hospital in Sangkat Tek Thla, Khan Russei Keo, Phnom Penh. I am not sure whether the houses were burned by someone. However, it is not good for Cambodians, particularly while Cambodians are ready to welcome the new Tevarda for the Khmer New Year (13-14-15 April 2008).
I noticed that whenever there is such a situation, the police does not come on time or it was a little bit late when the police arrive at the place where houses were destroyed by fire. Whatever reasons raised by police and public authorities, this should be taken into serious account and this topic should be an important agenda for discussion in a public forum where victims, authorities and polices and others shall join and share their points of views and recommend for actual implementation/measures.
When I talked about this with some of people, it is suspected that this is because land price is high and anarchic building there shall be made improvement. There should not be messy building in city like a modern Phnom Penh today.

Sucks those official!! i remember i know one brother told me that he were asked 2000 $ for stopping the fire. But he could afford only 1000$, eventually his home was destroyed all by the fire
Our gov’t should think about this such a corruption too.

it is very sad once fire comes. fire happened many times in year 2008, just about three months and half. fire of messy building, fire of market, example in sihanouk ville, etc. it destroys a lot of thing and then after that government officers and generous only come to give fruit or other else to express their sorrow. hmmmmmmmmmmhm
