A wedding with only a bride
Yesterday, I heard a real story in Phnom Penh about a strange wedding. The wedding was yesterday on Saturday 5th April 2008 between a Cambodian girl and an American man. On the wedding day, the American groom did not come to the wedding and people said he could not come on time because of air flight matters. However, the wedding was still operated with only a bride and the groom was absent. When I heard about this, I found that it was very strange. Is this traditionally recognized? After the wedding, do people/society assume that the bride now has an husband?
My question is that why the bride parents decided to continue the wedding ceremony? Why did they not cancel the ceremony? I think that it is an experience which all Cambodians have to take into serious account. People have to make sure that the groom shall be present at pre, during and post wedding day. Particularly, people must be careful with the marriage with foreigners.

Pou Sokthy, this story is interesting and useful for Cambodian women who would like to marry with foreigners. They must think carefully before making decision. Don’t think only wealth rather than your own happiness.

I won’t call it a married unless it consists of two people, either man and lady or man and man or lady and lady, whatever pair it is I don’t care as long as it’s pair …not single…..;)

Kane,
It was said it was a married. I agree with you that a married should have two persons/a pair.
